In a closed-loop fuel injected car, it will, at least within certain limits. Fuel with alcohol will result in excess 02 in the exhaust which the lambda sensor (or equivalent) will notice and the computer will enrich the mixture accordingly. Within certain limits of alcohol % in the fuel. A carbureted engine obviosuly wouldn't be able to adjust to the fuel in this way.
