POLAR STAR RETURNS TO SEATTLE
SEATTLE- Ensign Harold Kiffer holds his 4-month old
daughter after returning to Seattle today after a two-month deployment
to Antarctica. The Polar Star departed Seattle on Jan. 20 and traveled
8,200 nautical miles non-stop arriving in Antarctica Feb. 13 to continue
clearing a channel into McMurdo Station previously opened by the Russian

SEATTLE- Seaman David Trefrey throws a heaving line from the
Coast Guard Cutter Polar Star while the cutter was mooring at its
homeport in Seattle after a two-month deployment to Antarctica. The
Polar Star departed Seattle on Jan. 20 and traveled 8,200 nautical miles
non-stop arriving in Antarctica Feb. 13 to continue clearing a channel
into McMurdo Station previously opened by the Russian Icebreaker Krasin.
