Senator Feinstein seeks probe into sniper rifles
WASHINGTON - Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., is raising concerns that high-powered rifles could be used against Border Patrol agents near the U.S.-Mexico divide.
In a letter to Deborah Spero, acting commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Feinstein asked the department to look into whether .50-caliber rifles pose a threat to officers.
The gun, which has been banned for sale in numerous U.S. cities, is a high-powered rifle that can fire accurately at targets up to a mile away and penetrate steel armor.
"The threat posed the easy availability of the .50-caliber sniper rifle could endanger our Border Patrol agents and hinder our ability to control our borders," Feinstein wrote.
Border Patrol officials have testified about officers coming under sniper fire in Texas and other areas near the border.
The senator asked Spero to conduct an assessment of the threat posed the rifle and come up with ways to deal with their possible use along the border.
How many assaults can she say have been by a 50 cal?
Does she want to ban sales in Mexico or to Mexicans?
isn't this where recon in force is supposed to come into play? Mexico is a sovereign nation and I know they are doing all they can do to control their borders, but I think in certain cases we should help them.

I think you're on to something. She hates Mexicans. She doesn't want the "peasants" to own firearms. The only thing she wants to see in a Mexican's hands is a leaf blower.

Finswine will no doubt use this issue to prop up a proposal to ban .50s nationwide, so as to keep Mexican criminals from shooting at American Border Patrol Officers... from Mexico.

We are told that since LA has banned the big .50s, Barrett, who makes most of the better ones, has refused to sell any more to the LAPD or to service the ones they already have in inventory.
Sounds like a plan to me.
So our citizens of the United States of America are firing upon border patrol agents of the United States of America with .50 cal weapons?

Uh...from which side of the border, Di? Most of the folks I know who shoot .50 BMG's are on our side.
