Bush has no power in this debate.

Reid has all the power. It takes 60 senators to stop a filibuster and reid said he will filibuster any bill that doesn't have amnesty.

If Sensennbrenner himself were president he would still need hillary and reid's approval without the 60 senate votes to break a filibuster.

The senate sucks. Don't you remember the estrada nomination where the dems all besides ben nelson filibustered.

Bush is irrelevenent in this debate. Harry Reid is the major power player on capital hill. No legislation can get done without his approval.

Republicans having 55 senate seats is useless. You need 60 senate seats to take the power away from reid.

Without the 60 senate seats the senate and thus congress is in gridlock. There is no majority with the filibuster.

Thanks for being rational. Those mobs have no right coming here to demand anything. They are aided and protected by Democrats who want all their votes.

Bush has no power in this debate

This is absolutely and totally untrue. No further laws or action by Congress is needed for the President to enforce our laws against illegal immigration and hiring illegal immigrants. The President, as chief of the executive branch of this self-governing nation took an oath of office to faithfully execute our democratically enacted laws and he has chosen not to do this on immigration.

It is President Bush's choice, and nothing else, that is preventing the enforcement of the laws the vast majority of Americans want enforced. He already has -- and has always had -- all the power he needs to enforce our laws as he well demonstrated after 9-11 with the rapid round-ups of muslim radicals virtually all of whom were charged with immigration violations! We all understand that a few high profile prosecutions of employers of illegal aliens would end the job lure and would go a long way toward solving the problem without the need for draconian round-ups of illegals, but under the Bush Administration such prosecutions of employers has all but stopped.

By his actions President Bush has renounced any pretense of believing in democracy and self-government here in America while hypocritically promoting it in Iraq and around the world.

Nonsense. Create Pressure on Reid et al. They would fold if the pressure were on, and the democrats had to sustain their filibuster. The glare of sunlight would frighten them.

I suspect you are a mole and counsel weakness and impotence because you are one with the left.

If Bush had the power we'd be just as screwed.

If Reid filibusters, it will be a blood-bath for the democRATS at the polls in November. People are mad as hell about this.

"Bush has no power in this debate.... Reid has all the power."

One of the dumbest post ever at FR.

Who's the President? Who has the bully-pulpit? Who sets the agenda for America? Are you capable of comprehending the word, "leadership"?

Just remember it takes only take 51 votes to get rid of the filibuster. This could be the one that breaks the filibuster camel.

"It takes 60 senators to stop a filibuster and reid said he will filibuster any bill that doesn't have amnesty."

Fine. With the latest polls showing that most Americans want illegals sent back, Reid will give Republicans an '06 election gift.
