My emlpoyees were legal citizens of the United States -- only a fool would hire illegal aliens. There is such a thing as a legal immigrant, though I gather you did not know that anyone with dark skin who spoke with an accent was not some kind of criminal.

Incidentally, the word "confessional," which you have apparently presumed implied some wrongdoing or a "guilty conscience," has been used in literature to indicate "talkative, self-revealing," which my post was.
