County median home price reaches $604,000 San Luis Obispo County’s median home price inched past the $600,000 mark last month, reaching $604,170, according to data released by the California Association of Realtors. This was a 2 percent gain from January and a 21.7 percent gain from February 2005, when the median price was $496,430.
February’s median was still lower than the record set in November 2005 of $605,160.
The county saw an 8.1 percent increase in the number of sales of single-family detached homes compared with February of last year. During the same period, the median price of an existing home statewide increased 13.7 percent as the number of sales decreased 15.5 percent.
"As expected, year-over-year sales continued to decline from the robust levels of a year ago," said Vince Malta, association president.
Statewide, there is an unsold inventory estimated at 6.7 months. In San Luis Obispo County, unsold inventory was 7.6 months in February. That compares with 5.6 months in February 2005.

I hear the ocean at night. From my roof I can see an endless wilderness of ocean.
And the location is just about anywhere in CA.
Bought a new home in San Diego for about 1.2 in April '05, put about 200k into it and now it is worth over 2 mil.
It's nice to know that the Socialists who run CA are looking out for the blue collar worker.
Some areas haven't had the huge price increases and won't be hit so hard as the housing market runs out of steam.
If you run from money you'll never have any.
And San Luis Obispo is in the netherlands. Far, far, far from the high priced cities.
And people from the east are probably eye-balling are steady calm weather; this place seems to just have all sorts of benefits.

That aint the point. The folks who run CA claim that people who have too much money have done somthing wrong, but unless you have lots of $$$$$ you cant live in many parts of CA. Comprende??
I am a native of San Diego, we have been in the high range for yrs. with home, condo, and rent.
I am in the heart of the city near downtown. There are many high rise condos near me starting over 1/2 million to 4 million a unit.
1 bdrm apts start around $950.00 a month 2 bdrm start around $1,400.00 a month. I have always been in 1 bdrm apt.
Don't have much money... we invest are money and target best investments... like the future... i.e. education, training, career, real estate....
I rent a house for a week every summer in Cayucos. Best week of the year.
Is that good? 5 bedrooms with 2300 sq. feet??? Sounds small. What are the dimensions of the bedrooms?
