Actually Church of Christ has been categorized as a cult, I forget by which organization, but a reputable Christian one. I know they can be very legalistic. They do not allow instruments to be played because of some Psalme that says "raise your VOICES". It's a little quirky denomination. It is also the denomination of Pepperdine Unviersity. I spent some time there years ago, and we were busted for dancing because their donors forbade dancing.

Musical instruments are not used in CoC worship because the Bible does not say to use them.

Actually Church of Christ has been categorized as a cult, I forget by which organization, but a reputable Christian one.

And Free Republic has been categorized a cult by a reputable political organization.

There is a group called the International Church of Christ, (formerly the Crossroads & Boston Church of Christ) that have been shown to be cult-like because people come in with different personality-types, but they all converge to the same personality type. Google ["International Church of Christ" cult] if you are interested. That is not the church of Christ that the Winklers are associated with. I wish you could cite the name of your reputable Christian organization so I could read for myself what they said.

They do not allow instruments to be played because of some Psalme that says "raise your VOICES".

We do not use instrumental music because there is no New Testament example of it. We are instructed to sing and make melody in your hearts (Eph 5:19), and admonish one another in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs (Col 3:16). Instrumental music was not added to a worship service until hundreds of years after Christ died. Christ's church in its pure form did not use instruments to worship. Why do we need to improve upon it?

prior to getting too carried away, which Church of Christ are you referring to:

1. United Church of Christ;

2. Church of Christ; or,

3. International Church of Christ?

The UCC seems to be somewhat pro-homsexual, and the International Church of Christ seems, to me at least, to be a bit too cultish in their control over the behavior of their members.

The Church of Christ, based on their web site, does not seem to be cultish.

"Actually Church of Christ has been categorized as a cult, I forget by which organization, but a reputable Christian one."

You obviously have very selective memory. And by the way, which CoC was supposedly placed in that category?

"They do not allow instruments to be played because of some Psalme that says "raise your VOICES"."

First the word is psalm. Second, no psalm has anything to do with the non-use of instrumental music in the CoC. You again show that you have no idea of what you are talking about.

"It is also the denomination of Pepperdine Unviersity."

Pepperdine University is composed of colleges, not denominations. Futhermore, it is a university which has no affiliation with the CoC. You ignorance concerning the CoC is continuing to be demonstrated.

In short, you are runing off at the mouth sir and have no idea what-so-ever of what you are talking about.

There is an International Church of Christ organization that is a cult which is what causes the confusion.

Apparently this group acts as a cult and will even attempt to corrupt regular Churches of Christ by becoming members and fermenting distortion of beliefs.

They are the group that appeared on campuses and became destructive.
