And I can still remember my mom waking me up one Saturday morning to tell me about the 8 nurses who were murdered the night before. The ones Richard Speck killed.
I was very watchful as I walked to elementary school by myself. I learned at a young age the world could be a scary place.
I do remember that, and I lived quite a ways from there. I think the trial is in the caselaw books.
There was also an awful murder of about four women on an outing to a remote area of Starved Rock State Park at LaSalle, looks like about 60 miles sw of Chicago. I don't believe they ever caught the killer.
Both happened a long time ago.
