Slain Minister's Wife to Be Charged With Murder Friday, March 24, 2006 MEMPHIS, Tenn. The wife of a Tennessee pastor found shot dead in his house Wednesday will face first-degree murder charges, authorities announced Friday.
Mary Winklerwas found Thursday night with the couple's three daughters in Orange Beach, Ala., about 400 miles south of their home in Selmer.
Investigators with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said she was interviewed during the night and the charges were being prepared.
"We've interviewed her and she was cooperative," said Jennifer Johnson of the TBI, adding that once a warrant with the charges was drawn up, extradition proceedings would begin to have her returned to Tennessee.
Matthew Winkler was found shot to death in the bedroom of his parsonage Wednesday by church members who began searching for him after he failed to show up at an evening event at Selmer's Church of Christ.
Police said there were no signs of forced entry, but Winkler's wife and children Breanna, 1; Mary Alice, 6; and Patricia, 8 were gone.

yukong,
who wrote: "Your statement is just absurd and shows your ignorance."
...lol, MY ignorance?!...man who's ignorant?!, you clearly don't even understand the basics of accounting when it comes to property taxes...but i bet you would understand it if someone said to you that your property tax bill will be double since your neighbor is exempt from paying...then you would care wouldn't you?
The fact is...your tax dollars do not go to my church or any church. If you pay higher taxes because churches are tax exempt...your tax dollars still do not go to support that or any church. Other than the Morman church owning a shopping mall (news to me, but OK) I have a problem with that myself. But as to churches that are doing it for the right reasons...tax exempt status is proper. With a few exceptions...churches are not in it to make a profit. They exist to serve the Lord and mankind. The church I attend makes no money. Every penny raised through contributions is used to spread the word of God. We carry no large account. We have no investments. There are no shareholders that are receiving financial dividends. It is not a "business" in the sense of a for profit business. Are there frauds...you bet...but there are frauds in every area of life. But should we slam all of them because of a few frauds? Well, IMO, no. Obviously you believe differently. Fine. But there is no need to paint everyone with the same broad brush.
tenn2005, so you think it's reasonable that i should chip in for the mormon church so that they don't have to pay property taxes on their churches, while they are out spending $1 billion on shopping malls?
You need to adhear to the addage "It is better to remain silent and be considered a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt."
"so you think it's reasonable that i should chip in for the mormon church so that they don't have to pay property taxes on their churches, while they are out spending $1 billion on shopping malls?"
Since I am not a mormon I have no opinion on the subject.
My church is in no more being subsidized than you are being subsidized by the $1,000,000 home owner down the road from you. You don't pay as much tax as he does, but you get the same benefits from the government as he does. You have the same schools, and roads, and parks, etc...but you are paying far less than he...so I guess you are being subsidized too...and to follow your logic...you are also bad. You should be paying the same amount of property taxes as him. I'll bet next year you will check to see what the largest property owner is paying and you will pay that amount, since your conscience cannot tolerate someone "freeloading". Let me know how that works out.
Wish I had said that.
"logic"...it's a terrible thing to waste.
I think colt fan man has tucked his tail and ran. Wish I had your logical mind.
well, I practice law for a living and it does come in handy sometimes.
yukong, you really have zero idea how property taxes work(and clearly tenn2005 has no idea either, since he wishes he "had said that")...obviously someone in a $1m home pays more in property tax than someone in a $800,000 home, but the thing is your church is paying NOTHING, do you understand - NOTHING...therefore you ARE being subsidized by way of a tax credit...perhaps this simple example is too hard for you guys to understand, and you should ask an accountant about this
I saw that post...and but I didn't note that it was the same guy. That one really angered me, since all 3 of my daughters call me daddy. Even my 24 year old. And guess what...I never molested any of them.
FYI, I think the theolgy of the CoC is very similar to that of the Church of God (Anderson, IN), which I think is very solid, theologically. They've got a few little quirks, too; but very Biblical.
What kind of law?
"perhaps this simple example is too hard for you guys to understand, and you should ask an accountant about this"
I am and ave been an accountant for over forty years. The income tax s based on just that, income. Some pay more and some pay less, but as Americans, we all receive the same benefits. Why is that a problem for you?
dude...I understand completely. Your point is baseless. The guy in the $3,000,000 homes up in Gallardia in OKC pay 20 times the property taxes that I do in my $140,000 home. But they have the same roads, bridges, schools, parks, fire and police protection that I do. They have the same ambulance service (tax subsidized) and the same hosptials. They have the same thing I do, but they pay 20 times more. So in your world, I'm being given a tax credit too.
I think that it really is you that have "zero" idea how property taxes work.
You know...people who rent apartments pay no property taxes. But they still get the same roads and schools, etc. I guess you are also going to demand that we outlaw renters. That everyone must own a home.
Do you even read what you post? I wonder. It seems that you are so filled with hatred that you have lost all sense of reason.
tenn2005, you should save your addages and colloquialisms for when you have a clue what you are talking about, because most certainly on this property tax issue you (and yukong) are CLEARLY, CLEARLY out of your realm...but you and yukong keep high-fiving yourselves like clueless fools
Well now, I have a private practice that concentrates on family law, estate planning, general civil trial practice, and criminal defense. I have been practicing for over 20 years. I spent 10 years as a prosecutor. Four of those as an elected District Attorney. Also served a term as a municipal judge.
