The irony of McCain holding Goldwater's Senate seat is especially bitter.

To call the attention-seeking McCain an opportunistic greasy-pole climber is to insult even the worst of the pork-grabbers.

He is sort of the Michael Jackson of politics - McCain always yearns to be a Republican even if he's totally unequipped!

The good Lord knows I am no legal expert, but...

A website which is more than 50% devoted to political commentary may fall within some ridiculous parameters governing this particular "law". I doubt that 50% of the commentary on FR is of a strictly political nature--even in the throes of an election cycle. Will this law force every website which hosts political discussions to cease and desist for thirty days? Ba-bye, everyone from wikipedia to soccer.com!

I think the 2004 election was won largely by internet debates...hostile or otherwise. This may why they're targeting the internet now. And I wouldn't be surprised to learn that, in the near future, they're going to tax internet users. They've taxed everything else!

Jim,

I think it would help tremendously have many more faxes, etc. sent

if the top header of this thread had links to the numbers and addy's for each politician.

Might also help to have some sample msgs/letters for those intimidaed about writing such.

Hate to bother you but I just think we need to do ALL WE CAN to MAXIMIZE assaulting Congress with fierce input from EVERY FREEPER AND LURKER.

THANKS TONS, in advance.

This is no surprise to me. The US Constitution has been effectively meaningless for the last 70-odd years. It means no more to the elitists who rule over us today than the USSR constitution meant to Stalin and his commissars.

Whatever the ruling class wants to do, the USSC will find a way to justify it even if it is clearly forbidden by the text of the Constitution. How else can it be that the court finds Constitutional justification for McCain-Feingold and the taking of private property by local government simply for the purpose of increasing the tax base, yet it can't find anything in the 2nd Amendment that guarantees my right to keep and bear arms? Those people don't make those decisions because they're too stupid to read the Constitution correctly, they know exactly where they want the USA to go and how to it get there without having an insurrection on their hands.

John McLame whose war record makes Jon F'n Kerry look like Audie Murphy?

The original Manchurian candidate?

I can't believe that he can survive the Republican primaries. However all of Bush"s hench people seem to be lining up for jobs on little johnnny's campaign.

Passage of that bill should be the tripwire for the next "shot heard 'round the world"! Such an assault on free speech must not go unchallanged.

John McCain is not ultimately responsible for making CFR the law of the land.

The guy who lost his veto pen is.

Why are mad at John McCain - Bush signed this bill.

McCain is a known backstabber but he couldnt of passed this without the presidents endorsement.

Bush is the one we need to attack - he only has a veto pen for countries wanting to exploit America through our ports.
