(snip)
The Federal Election Commission (FEC) yesterday postponed a controversial decision on subjecting Internet political speech to campaign-finance regulations, raising the stakes for today’s scheduled House vote on a bill that exempts all blogs, Web ads and other online communications.

Well...according to that, Free Republic wouldn't be exempt...because there are a whole lot more than $10, 000 a year expenditures...

Also, did you notice the article referenced Daily Kos..and Redstate as "partners"?

Someone help me out here.

"....subjecting Internet political speech to campaign-finance regulations..."

Are donations made by Free Republic to specific campaigns or specific candidates?  IOW, would Free Republic (as opposed to Jim Robinson, private citizen) make a donation to Candidate XYZ in the next Presidential election on behalf of all Freepers?

If not, then why could we be regulated as part of CFR:?  Is they answer simply nothing more than because they say it is? In an earllier time I would blow this off and say the courts would never uphold this. Of course, that was before CFR.
