If your children do not fear you, you have done something wrong. I disagree...........if they do not respect you, you have done something wrong. There is a vast difference between fear and respect.

As Christians we are taught to fear God, the bible is very clear on this...
Respect is mentioned 16 times in the bible and almost always in relation to how children should respect their parents.
Fear elicits compliance... compliance shows respect. There is no respect without compliance between parent and child.
The relationship between God and his children (us) is the example we should strive for in our relationship with our own children.
