Here's a little history to go with your comment about Dick Durbin:

The Boston Tea Party happened December 16, 1773:

The Declaration of Independence was signed July 2, 1776:

George Washington was inaugurated President of the United States on April 30, 1789.

Media and Democrats could never wait that long today. Everything has to fit in a 22-minute sitcom time-slot.

The battle of Yorktown and surrender by Cornwallis was in 1781.

I believe that GWashington slept in his own bed at Mount Vernon only a few times during those 5 years.

Our War for Independence was not a brief affair.
