He got to be Quayle's Chief of Staff by skulduggery, and once there caused all sorts of trouble. He was the one who got Quayle to make the Murphy Brown speech (and that worked so well, didn't it?). James Baker wouldn't let him come into the campaign strategy meetings in 1996 because of his leaking to the press.
I also am firmly convinced that Kristol thought he would get a position in the Bush administration. He held his fire during the Florida recount (after trashing Bush all through the campaign), but once it was obvious that he wasn't going to get a job, he got really nasty. He wrote an absolutely horrible article about the China spy plane incident called "Our profound national humiliation."
I furthermore think that he was instrumental in the Jeffords defection, and anyone who wants to know my reasoning can feepmail me for the details.
I do NOT trust him, and I pay no attention to his opinions, even when he accidentally agrees with us. I believe if Bush were impeached, he would be on TV grinning with glee.
He is not to be trusted, and I want people to treat him with distrust.
Ugh...just saw a clip of Murtha on Fox. A pox upon him.
Interesting. I thought it was the "Cabal" that got to him. Hillary, Daschle, et al..
