I understand but our government is known for over-reacting. I can see them wanting control and knowing where all the birds are. It's already started with having to register your animals.

I know what you're saying ... even for family pets the pressure is on to get them chipped.
I REFUSE to do THAT.
I don't want a foreign object in them unless it is medically necessary. We've had pets for OVER 20 years.
NONE of them have gotten lost.
NONE of them have run away from home.
NONE of them have been stolen.
One is a shelter adoption and one is a purebred. We've always had shelter animals and some with papers.
They don't run away from LOVING homes.
They don't "get lost" unless they are ill and then it is up to the owner to be observant and not let them out.
They've never been stolen because we keep an eye on them.
All these STUPID emotional SCARE tactics don't work with us. I don't want their "number" in some database.
Another thing ... if per chance they are run over, within "their territory" it is highly unlikely that some stranger is going to scrape them off the road, rush to a vets office and have them scanned so you can have the remains. I have NEVER heard of anyone doing that and I don't expect that to change.
