Vandals spray-painted gang-related messages across an area of Georgetown overnight, leaving an elementary school, a community center, a park and close to a dozen other buildings damaged.
Residents woke this morning to find royal blue graffiti, most reading "Crips 4 life" or "Crips" in reference to the notorious gang, on buildings from East 14th Street to East 19th Street in the neighborhood surrounding San Jose Park south of U.S. 29.
Portions of the walls of Annie Purl Elementary School, the Getsemani Community Center and buildings at the playground in the park were spray-painted. Some of the messages were as large as 2 feet, while others were much smaller.
Police are investigating.
Apparently, there is no way to catch them or stop them.
Or, has your community come up with a solution that is workable. I.e., we can't shoot or lynch the buggers.
Tag! Your it!
An anti-abortion group?
I remember when I was a child in the Chicago area in the early 70's, some homeowners caught some young boys (14 or so) spray painting garage doors in the neighborhood. The homeowners took the four boys in a garage, stripped them, spray painted them, and turned them loose. Sorry to say the homeowners suffered some serious consequences from the police.
"as they do the Italian Mafia"
I don't think the gov's effort at going after the mob is all that great either.
"I'm Earl Scheib, and I'll paint any kid for $39.99."
The barbarians are winning.
It would be a good bet that the Taggers were white Kids. I have seen a lot of white kids go for the gangsa look and lifestyle.
And you know what makes me really mad, is when kids use the word Pimp as a good thing. yeah, make money off the slavery of women. What a pack of useless crapforbrains.
Yes, the barbarians are winning.
Maybe George Wallace was right.
I doubt it.
My first thought too. Some crummy Kyle, Brendan, Apple, Dweezil or you name it Georgetownian Visigothic spoiled hyper-dense neutron star of entitled teenage self-esteem. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
And where are those public wippings...
I live in Georgetown!
This is an INCREDIBLY low-Crime area with excellent schools. Nothing at all like Austin (It's about 20 miles North of Austin)
My kids go to a different school than the one noted in the article, but you can be sure that Georgetown Police will catch the perps. And when they do, the hammer will fall. We are a no-nonsense city.
Geez. I thought that was DC at first. But, hey, if it had been Georgetown in DC, the cops would have been all over it fast.
We could start by arresting anyone sporting gang colors.
Membership in a known criminal group should be made a crime. How groups like NAMBLA and PITA will handle that is no concern of mine.
George W. did it.
