Although the President supports ANWR, he has not been vocal enough about it. Maybe a national address to the country on the importance of drilling ANWR, and/or repeated pushes for it publicly as he travels the country. This is so close that a big Presidential public push is needed!!!

Mr. President, let's spend some political capital on ANWR!!

Fully agree. This POTUS does not have to worry about re-election. He has absolutely nothing to loose. But it cannot just be him. He needs the hill to come out of their ant hills and admit the gig is up. We must use all resources at our disposal to work toward energy independence.
But here is a though I have not brought up before and I believe has gone unnoticed on these oil related posts.
No environmental whackos to have to deal with. Just potential huge profits to be made under the right situations.
And I would not be surprised in the lest if many on the hill against local drilling, as well as fence sitters have this in mind. So no one wants to take the chance of being an outcast for the fight for US interior drilling and exploration. In short, get cheap Arabian crude with minimal investments.
