As someone who lurks at the nutter sites just for laughs, I can tell you that FR is one of the more civilized and issue/news-based forums on the web. The leftwing kookery at Kos, DU and Huff Post is very much based in personal insult, invective, and profanity. Then there are the barely functioning vanity sites like ClownPosse, where it's all personal attack and neurotic obsession with FR. They must be such miserable people in real life. Course that assumes they have lives...:)
