In some ways a Tet might be welcome. The resounding defeat suffered by the Viet Cong during the Tet Offensive destroyed their ability to effectively operate. After Tet most of the fighting was being conducted by the North Vietnamese. A battle that would result in the elimination of several hundred AQ fighters would likely have welcome results.

The American people never knew, at the time, that we had been victorious during the Tet Offensive. It was the turning point in US opinion that lost the VN war at home, thanks to the media.

Watched Rumsfeld and Pace at a presser this afternoon and every question was about the casualties of the past few days and *civil war*. The media is anxious for some huge attack and one in the Green Zone that implicated the Iraqi government and security forces would have been just the ticket for them.

IMO, this is not being publicized here because it wasn't successful and shows that Iraqi Intelligence is doing a good job.

I must respectfully disagree very strongly.

I believe that the MSM has been waiting for a TET style offensive that they can blow out of proportion. remember all that they have is Vietnam. They have to peg this war as another Vietnam. Remember that most Americans under the age of 40 believe that Vietnam was a REPUBLICAN war. The MSM has successfully made the war as bad as possible. IF the islamofacists actually take an embassy or two that would swing the election here and then sow the seeds of pullout and defeat in Iraq. That is the real goal of the enemies of freedom.
