If we could only remember WHO we are, and how great America really is, and in some magic way, get rid of the press/media who are distorting everything that is going on, I think we'd all be a lot better off.
The carping this past week, and NO speeches by the President on this deal, have just about caused me to bust a vein. I take too much in blood-pressure meds to be going through the kind of junk I've seen on TV this week.
And then Brit Hume had this retired Lt. Col. on last night, who talked about WALKING the streets of Baghdad, and watching CHILDREN playing in the streets, and how there was NO CIVIL WAR, how the press are holed up in hotels, getting their "news" from runners and don't really know what is going on "out there" because they are hiding IN the hotels.
Being in contact with our warriors, whether the wounded at Walter Reed, or my mail buddies I've developed in Iraq and Afghanistan, I know that what is being reported is JUNK. PURE unadulterated JUNK.
I am so angry at the media, and angry that the President didn't get ahead of the press and Congress over this Dubai Ports World deal, I could spit copper nickels.
I'm just frustrated. I've been listening to Tony, and watching Brit, but the TRUTH just doesn't get out there, and it's very, very annoying. Even Rummy didn't squash the "Civil war" stuff. And even worse, my buddies on an intel board that I participate in, were mouthing the worst of what's been said by the press this week. I reminded them that they needed to "check their sources" and rethink their conclusions.
You'd think I'd dropped a porcupine into their midst. They all focused on me - so I reminded them of who their fight is, where they've gotten their news and how biased their "opinions" are, because they sure weren't dealing with facts. They don't like being corrected by a woman, but 2 of them came to my defense, and the rest began to see what they'd done, how they were mouthing/repeating really bad information. I found sources to counteract their MISinformation, and stood my ground. It's been a tough fight all week, and I've been using OSINT to do it.
I couldn't change their cast-in-concrete opinions but I finally did make them see that they'd based their OPINIONS on misinformation, emotions and the media that has an agenda, and that they didn't use the usual fact-finding methods that we've been taught to use. I don't think I could expect them to admit that they'd changed their minds, but I'm positive that I made an impact, and that some did.
Wow! Great post TNT! thanks for the info, and for fighting the good fight!!
Some of the best reporting from Iraq lately was done by Laura Ingraham. I also think she learned a lot about our military, how they operate, and how they think. She was always a great supporter of the military, but I don't think that until now she really understood them. Her reporting was fantastic, but the MSM will ignore her. She got some time from FNC but not much else
It sounds like you did a great job Truthy. A really great job, I salute you.
The danger of the constant negativity of the old media is that it does start infiltrating people's subconscious. It's insidious. And folks who normally are rational, clear-headed and based on facts, start shifting their thinking without even realizing it.
You fought the good fight, congratulations. But as this tired pajama warrior agrees, it'd be easier if the Adminstration would just help us fight a little bit.
Of course, that doesn't mean I'll ever quit. Not till my last dying breath will I stop fighting against these communist-loving, anti-American socialist-marxists and their lies.
That was Ralph Peters, I was posting his dailies link from Iraq.
(What happened to "Able Danger" and any testimony by Col Schaffer?)
