Prestwick Airport closed after 'security alert' on flight
A police operation was launched today after a Ryanair plane was diverted to Glasgow Prestwick Airport following a security alert.
The airport, which is around 30 miles from Glasgow, was closed.
It is understood that a Ryanair plane travelling from Paris to Dublin had to be diverted to Prestwick at around 2.20pm this afternoon.
A spokesman for the airport said: There is an ongoing incident at Glasgow Prestwick Airport. Police and emergency services are in attendance.

Update:
The airline, Ryanair, said that a note was passed to cabin crew saying a bomb was on board the aircraft and authorities said all the passengers had left the plane.
