"Neighborhoods used to be a lot more neighborly".

Its sad but I would really have to think hard to come up with the names of my neighbors on either side of me..

That's not a good thing. Go introduce yourself the next time you see them outdoors. Invite them over for a cookout. It could one day save your life.

Our neighborhood is lousy with kids. They have acted as a catalyst in neighbor getting to know neighbor, just from running back and forth to play. This past week, a 3 yr old wandered off from his yard where he and a bunch of kids were playing. Within a half hour of the word getting out, the entire neighborhood was out looking. The boy was found, safe, before dark. It gets cold at night this time of year, so this was a good thing.

For those who would have fits over the kid wandering off, this is North Dakota--most 'missing' kids are at the park or a friends, and do not end up on milk cartons.
