You are correct regarding Japan.
Japan also has shrines where women visit and leave little dolls representing the babies that were murdered. It is their only means of dealing with what they have done since Japan does not know Christ - therefore atonement for sins is non-existent.
Japan also has an extremely high suicide rate among young women. They go out into the forest and kill themselves.

Japan does not know Christ Depends on where you go. In Nagasaki, about 5-10% of the population is Roman Catholic. Hard to compete with the state religion (Shinto) however...
