"Accept this deal or else" is blackmail any way you want to cut it. Margarine, butter, or Tabasco - nothing will get rid of that taste. I bought a bar of "butter" from the supermarket. The butter was racid. I told the guy at the supermarket, either accept an exchange of bad butter for good, else I want my money back.
A statement of "Accept this deal or else" is not synonymous with blackmail...in any way, shape or form.

Boeing stock Up a dollar today. Might be possible to sell and put the proceeds in a money account. Boeing stock has been very strong--go out on the high if worried.

"D*mn, they are trying to integrate with the ways of the West"
Dream on. They are an ally because it suits them financially. They are using us just as we are using them. Ideologically and culturally they are Arab Muslims who hate us just as throughly as any Saudi or Iranian Mullah.
They are not reliable allies and it is better to know and understand that now than during an emergency.

well then you better be screaming for Congress to stop ALL container ships from entering our coastal waters that have origins from ports controlled by the bad UAE people,,
after all it's the containers that are the security problem not the owner of a company sitting in Dubai right?

blocks its $6.8 billion takeover of operations at several U.S. ports. The U.S. ports (actually, the american companies which run the U.S. terminals) are a small part of the overall 6.8 billion dollar deal. They didn't pay 6.8 billion to "get access to our ports".

"That's interesting, we have to give them these bases or they threaten to harm us in every way they can?
I have not followed this issue or made a decision about it until now. With these threats the deal is OVER."
Oh grow up. We are threatening to pull tens of Billions from them because their ..........Arabs. OMG.
I don't blame them at all. In fact, I'd probably do the same.
And your statements make it very clear that you have not followed or researched this issue at all.

Huh.
When you look at it that way. I wonder who else hasn't really thought about this. And it's not like he can come out and SAY it.
I'm rather surprised we haven't heard about our other friends.. but that would reveal those ties, and blast this whole deal out the window.

And wait until we need them to be on our side when we have to deal with Iran and other hot spots in the ME. These people will cut our throats when we're not looking. Are you familiar with our great "allies" in Saudi Arabia?

We should just follow the Party of Treason lead here. Don't listen to President Bush listen to Chuck the Schumuck. Don't listen to Gen. Franks listen to Harry Reid. Don't listen to Gen. Pace listen to Shrillery.
What kind of fool would believe anything from this diabolical trio rather than those whose opinions are actually based on facts and experience?

If there was actual trust In business, which is the relation with Dubai, the contract is the only trust.

Remember election year political gutlessness trumps the war on terror, now maybe the idiot anti deal bunch will wake up..but I doubt it.

I was taken aback too at first until I looked into what it entailed. When very knowledgable people like Tommy Franks come out in favor of this it also influences my opinion. Today I am returning my envelope that I WAS going to put my contribution to the RNC in, with a little note that they can stick it up theirs and the congress/senate critters collective a$$ for their lack of support for the president and this deal.

Ward Churchill was a US citizen and he cheered 9/11. US Senator Patty Murray admired the way OBL went around Afghanistan opening up day care centers. A lot of people worldwide celebrated the US getting hammered on 9/11. Susan Sontag and many others born here did it right in our media and directly in our faces. I wouldn't want those people involved in port security either. Your point?

On this issue, which bed do you want to get in -- the one with the fleas or the one with the bedbugs.
Do bedbugs carry the black plague though? I know fleas do. :P
