I have no problem with people coming to America to stay for a better life. My problem is with me paying for it As long as the aliens continue to get free healthcare, free education, and are paid less than Americans then the problem will not go away. If the government would arrest companies CEO's that hire these people for less then min wage, the companies that do not pay any Soc Sec. tax on these workers, the companies that do not take medicare, or state taxes out of their pay then 3/4ths of the problem would go away because if you raise the wage the employers would find that there are plenty of Americans that will do the work for a decent pay. Sure the prices of things would go up some but our taxes would drop. Also companies would be less likely to accommodate the different lang. it would be an added cost. English would again become the national lang by default. Mexican workers would have a stake in our economy if they had to pay taxes they would want a voice in how that money is spent and would work to become citizens of the USA. They would be treated fairly in the country and would see the difference from their home in sweeping colors. Some would stay and some would travel back home and start political movements that may bring up their standard of living. It all comes down to taking the profit motive out of the equation. The employers would still hire at min wage but the demand would level off some.

I suspect they will be back for more, as they seem to have a need to destroy Bush, et al., in order to take back the party. A lot of them looked at the election of 2000 as a way of sticking it to the democrats. They thought the President would roll over and be their b*tch. They remind me of the moveon faction. They were so used to a President who governed by opinion polls they actually believed President Bush would obey their every dictate. They don't seem to understand the role of the President.

"Otherwise that article would have gone completely ignored, except by, ya know, the people who have already made 265 replies to that thread." OK, I get it, "Corky". Ever the Populist, you are.

I never claimed to be a populist.
Or civil.
Although I think I come off much better when juxtaposed against you folks.

Did you bother to read the articles you posted? They don't prove your point.

Good logic. I believe that we see this in identical terms. I am going to hold my congresscritters' feet to the fire to develop the proper legislation or enforcement procedures to "git er done". Even if that means I have to choke down some form of a guest worker program. It is that important.

It basically comes down to two things. One is that citizenship must mean something again. The new world order crowd things everyone in the world should have the same rights. That is a farce. If you are not a US citizen or a legal resident you should not have the same rights/protection as a US citizen has. If I entered Mexico illegally I would be taking my life and freedoms in my hands. The second to receive those rights you must meet certain conditions. All of our forefathers met those conditions why should one certain group be given a pass. Talk about racism. Are you telling me that the Spanish speaking peoples can not learn English, can not pass citizenship guidelines, can not vote, or are they not smart enough to be a great addition to our country. They can and they should. But we must stop enabling them to not meet those standards.

"I never claimed to be a populist." No, of course you didn't. You merely tried to weigh the validity of a post by the number of responses it got. (thus the populist label I gave you.)
OTOH, I characterized the link by the truth (or in this case the false facts) that were within the story.
I'll "juxtapose" that against your foolishness, any day of the week.

Even before the dawn storm clouds begin to gather...
Nativist sentiment helped kill the Dubai ports deal
By DAVID S. BRODER
Before that, the conflict brought to the surface deep-seated resentments from the Capitol end of Pennsylvania Avenue toward the people around the president and, surprisingly, toward Bush himself. The harmony that prevailed during most of Bush's tenure the deference that a Republican-controlled Congress has generally shown to his wishes disappeared. Even the normal circumspection with which congressional Republicans treat the White House withered in the unexpected heat of this dispute.

Avoid Foreign Entanglements was a stern warning by one of our Founding Fathers. Whether it be Allies or the running of American (insert whatever here).
Let an American Company stand up and take it over, or be created to do so if we don't have one.
It's past time we started doing for ourselves instead of hiring overseas companies to do it for us.
