A Naval Academy crew team member was dismissed from the school Friday for having what his attorney describes as consensual sex with a female midshipman, but the female was not punished for her part in the matter.

Don't be silly, everybody knows that in cases of some bad consequence to consensual sex, the Bad Man is held accountable and responsible, and the Poor Little Woman is just a victim of the Bad Man.... /sarc
Men always have a double standard placed against them when it comes to sex issues.

what's wrong is gender-blending the academies.
I've never thought it was a good idea there or in combat arms training or active duty combat units.
I think this poor fella's guilty of poor timing, with all the other sexual misconduct problems overshadowing the Academy. But his attorney's apparently locked onto a very valid point, which could potentially save his career. Or may more likely torpedo hers as well.
Ever since I can remember, the Navy has had a problem of fairness when it came to a political issue. It seems like the male is always the instigator, and the woman is always the victim.

Possibly a deal with the man being in a position of authority over the woman, like an upperclassman.
You get booted after getting a certain number of demerits, and I suppose if she lied about drinking and got away with it, then he'd have gotten more demos for the drinking. that might have been enough to put him over the top.
But again, that's just speculation. You need details before reaching a conclusion.
This middy should be commended; after all, he was just trying to make her water tight, as any good sailor should.

Short answer to your question is, Yes there are specific rules disallowing any sexual or conjugal relationships between midshipman, enlisted or officers.
