My sister bought a house in a San Diego suburb thirty years ago for under $30,000. The house next door just sold for $2.4 million and it was described as a 'fix-r-upper'. Thanks to Proposition 13, her taxes are reasonable. Her new neighbor will be paying many times more than my sister in property taxes to a county that is about to default on its pension plan, can't fix pot holes, and 80% of the folks going to the hospitals will not be paying their bill.

MY sister wants to stay in California but could not afford the taxes if she moved.

My wife and I went on to San Diego on holiday last year, we had a great time and the people were very friendly. But I was amazed to find out that the place was going bankrupt.

A beautiful tourist attraction and yet they couldn't spend their money wisely. Such a pity!!
