Did you read the article you just posted? It says it had him at 36% last year.
Well then, most people are stupid. They will run a terminal - not a port. And, why not?
You want to see low numbers? Keep up this Dubai deal.

Of course, this poll had Kerry winning by 2% over Bush last year in their final Election 2004 poll.

Actually, yes it is rigged. Go look at its internal numbers. It polled 43% Democrat, 33% Republican and 18% independent. The actual voting population only has a 2 point differential between Democratic and Republican voters, so this poll just like CBS totally over-emphasized Democratic input. If you weighted out that skew, it is likely Bush would be at about 45-46% approval. Not great, but it's not 39% either.
Why do you have a need to believe these polls? Are you throwing a hissy over port terminal operations and just want to believe everyone hates Bush because now you do as well?
36% is below 40% as is the current 39%. So its at least the second time he's been below 40%
For those defending this deal - do you really want to align yourselves with the U.A.E.?

I mean, not all critics, perhaps, but face it, a WHOLE bunch of people jumped all over it just because they were arabs.
If we are going to actually try to set up stable liberal democracies in Iraq and Afganistan, thus, if this is to make any sense at all, you have to accept that arabs and muslims are not all bad.
There seems to be absolutely no doubt that some of the critics, including some Republicans I'm afraid, jumped to conclusions based on their race and religion.
It makes no sense to be for Iraq/Afganistan/Possibly Iran in the future, and oppose the port deal. Unless, that is, your problem is that we aren't killing all the arabs. That would at least be logically consistent. Genocidal and insane, but logically consistent.
I think that it was probably right, given all the craziness in the area, to take a break and make double sure. But it also does seem racist to me unless we find some very troubling stuff out about a country that has so far been a staunch ally.

The Dubai deal is foolish. G. Bush was foolish after 9/11 going straight to a Mosque and declaring "Islam is a religion of Peace"... The deal is being done in that same kumbayah (undiscerning) spirit.
People are people, races are races and for all intents and purposes they are equal. But all religions (like politics) are NOT equal. Some (e.g. Islam) don't have a separation of church and state and require ones full allegiance.
If they wish to invest in the USA, let them invest in areas where national security is not an issue. Umbrella factories.
