The Plot Thickens in Ferrari Crash
LA Times ^ | 2/28/06 | Richard Winton and David Pierson, Times Staff Writers

The mystery deepened Monday in the case of the puzzling crash last week of a $1-million Ferrari Enzo on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.

Sheriff's detectives said Monday that they believe a gun's magazine discovered near the wreckage is connected to the crash, and they plan to interview an unnamed person who they believe was in the car with Swedish game machine entrepreneur Stefan Eriksson.

The crash has also garnered the attention of a leading Scottish bank, which has informed sheriff's investigators that it may own the destroyed car. At the same time, detectives are trying to figure out why another exotic car in Eriksson's extensive collection, a Mercedes SLR, was listed as stolen by Scotland Yard in London, said Sheriff's Sgt. Phil Brooks.

The totaled Ferrari was one of two Enzos that Eriksson brought into the United States from England along with the Mercedes SLR, Brooks said. But detectives concluded that the totaled vehicle did not have appropriate papers and was not "street legal" for driving in California, he said.

They can't fix THAT? HE11FIRE!!!

Red Green could have that thing back on the streets in 8 hours, using nothing but duct tape and leftover beer cans!

And it was said he was racing an MB SLR. Was that car his also? And what was he doing racing at 6:00AM??? Out partying all night with a bit of nose candy to keep going?

Very weird stuff..........like where did the suspiciously exact "162 MPH" come from. Not like the cops got him on radar..........

It's just amazing that neither one of them were killed. The design of the car worked to protect the occupants. I'm sure a lot of Ferrari owners would like to kill the driver, when he's found. Sounds like there may be others standing in line too. That was such a beautiful car. These are much better pictures than the first ones we saw.

Hmmmm....

If the engine runs (no broken crank) and they can find an ECU (Engine Control Unit).

The best place for it is with Chip Foose, build a Street Rod around the engine.

Does anyone remember the 32' Duce w/ a Ferrari engine known as the "Ducarri"? Beautiful Street Rod.

Be nice to buy the salvage and put the Ferrari engine in a dune buggy... I knew a guy in New Mexico some time ago that acquired the engine and transaxle from a totaled 911 and rolled it into a VW dune buggy. Very hot!

Good point. Forgot reading about all the little black boxes in newer cars that insurance companies love. Record all the incriminating evidence, neatly wrapped for them and the cops.
