Rutabagas are the ticket but I substitute with potatoes, cubed roasted mountain lion, or dried hamburger on the trail. Yes, dried hamburger. Cook it, dry it and you can have burritos, spaghetti, goulash, and anything you use hamburger for except for a patty, without refrigeration. It will keep as long as two years."
