It's over now? Kind of an anticlimactic ending. I ended up falling asleep and missing the "flame snuffing".
I must say, it was fun to read the comments from the east coasters then watch it on the west coast. My husband had to listen to me saying, "Oh, that's what they were talking about!"

"Four years from now."
Slept through another one.

I did too. The solider was okay, but I tuned out after Brokaw's tenth or so race-baiting question. Why did this segment last an hour??? Couldn't Brokaw get in all his racial jabs in 30 minutes? I've already seen "A Soldier's Story," Tom. Yes, believe it or not, most Americans are aware of the racism that existed in America during WWII. But thanks, Tom, for beating us over the head with it again, to no apparent purpose.

Now, can we get some regular TV programming again? This Olympics was awful. Too much talk and too many commericals.

The Chicoms get the next Summer games in 08.

Andrea Bocelli's latest CD is "Amore" and includes the song he sang last night at the closing ceremony: "Because We Believe". (sung partly in English and partly in Italian)
I have a several of his CDs and plan to buy this new one. I never tire of his music... :o)

EXCELLENT comments in #837, Leni... I couldn't agree with you more. I was wondering if it was just me. I also rarely could tell what athlete or team I was looking at or what country they were from. And I rarely sit "glued to the TV". In NBC's version of the Olympics, I guess that's what they expected viewers to do in order to catch the information graphics on each event they very briefly flashed on the screen.
PLEASE forward your well-written comments to NBC... maybe, just maybe they'll listen...

Eeeeeeek!
I'm in Olympics withdrawal!
I was forced to watch American Justice while eating dinner when all I wanted to see was snow, mountains and teletubbies flipping in the air on snow boards.
I hope I get over this soon before I see spiders on the wall.
Wait! I think I shall think about the upcoming FReeps Ahoy cruise and tropical blue lagoons in the sun. Yes, yes, that's what I'll think about.
Cancel my anguished cry for help.

We have digital cable and have access to "Olympics On Demand" coverage......we can watch re-runs of highlights from each day, previews & reviews of events, skating competitions, etc. Today I re-watched the skating exhibition.:)
I don't know how long it will be available.....hope they keep it on for a while.

Glad to hear there's another Bleak House fan here. I'm watching the re-run now (Monday late night, they re-ran it back to back from 2 AM to 6 AM.) Most excellent television.

FYI, the DVD set of Bleak House was being offered at the end of the PBS show. Go to their website at pbs.org.
Yes, that miniseries was one of their finest in quite awhile, IMO.

Sorry, I am innocent and naive in some respects, and I don't mind being chided for it. I enjoyed these Olympic Games, and despite Caty Couric, I enjoyed NBC's coverage,... for the most part. Brokaw's side stories were sometimes very thin in their connection to the games, but not too bad.
Most of the photography was awe inspiring, but I would still like to see more longer range shots of ski jumping and aerial competitions, as closeups all the time don't give you the scale of the vertical dimensions of the hill or the course.
Hype? Sure, but what sporting event, including NASCAR isn't just media platform for more and more intense marketing and advertising campaigns and schemes? As this is the natural state of Capitalism, what else is new? All in all, I enjoyed a virtual trip to Torino, and have few complaints.
