Obviously, you don't agree. However, I have stated facts, here and on other threads on this issue and backed them with other information available to anyone on the net. As you are well aware, people with CG and other maritime security experience have posted as well and they have facts, also, as well as on the ground experience. So, the term *Diatribe* may just be a bit hyperbolic.
That said, I am exercised over this entire fiasco and I mean the reaction, not the DPW/P&O deal.
Show me one article, one concern ever voiced by anyone, including Tancredo or Pat Buchanan or Hillary Clinton or Peter King or Lindsay Graham over Saudi Arabia's terminal operations in 2001. This wasn't even mentioned in the 9/11 hearings. Not even the people castigating BJ for his security lapses mentioned Saudi terminal operations, nor those who maintain Carter sold the Panama Canal to the Chinese (he didn't).
If UAE has been good enough for the US Navy since your stated date of 2/02, then I would venture this P&O sale to DPW would not have risen above the boring business pages that few ever read, nor would any hysterical extrapolations have been made. The usual suspects were too busy trying to prove that there was an election stolen in 2000 in FL and were gearing up to take the Congress away from the GOP in Nov 2002. Of course, IIRC, 2002 was the year that Daschle's Teamster buddies struck some West Coast ports over fears they would be rendered obsolete, so just maybe, the donks would have pitched a fit if this deal had taken place then.
I don't know what triggered this bruhaha at this time, but my best guess is that the GOP is going to keep Congress in the midterms and the donks needed an issue. The Pubs are spineless and are afraid to run on the Bush record, so they are scrambling to the right of GWB as fast as they can. And, as I said in an earlier post on this thread, it is strange that the Maersk connection in this deal is being ignored by the MSM and the donks at the same time that Denmark is head of the UN General Assembly and the irreconcilable wing of Islam is hell-bent to discredit Denmark in any way they can. I don't discount Teamster concerns and the Teamster/DNC nexus, either.
I am much more impressed with those Republicans, conservatives and FReepers who were able to take a deep breath, assimilate the facts on the ground and change their reaction accordingly than I am with those who are digging in their heels, repeating falsehoods and demonizing anyone who can see past the end of their own nose as a traitor or a bushbot.
I am as passionate on this as you and the other paleos are. If that be diatribe, so be it. At least I have used fact to form my opinion. I also waited until I had those facts and had read the information offered by people who had real experience with these issues to post on these threads.

You have taken sides with the DPWorld/UAE contingent. So be it. Americans hold different opinions on this issue. We all have a right to free speech and if I want to excercise my right to disgaree with this sweetheart deal, so be it. Sometimes even Republicans and Democrats agree on certain issues. This maybe considered one of those times. As with most leveled headed folks, conservatives like myself reach conclusions based on the evidence and the facts. Not on what we hear from others. I don't wait for talking points to be printed or posted, nor do I don't wait around to be told what to think and what to say. And I don't take the rants of FReepers at face value, as you do.
