Who will lead us?

TRIBUNE-REVIEW

Friday, February 24, 2006

There will be a pro-immigration march on Washington next month in opposition to legislation that makes illegal entry a criminal offense and authorizes constructing a security fence on the U.S.-Mexican border, according to The Washington Times.

An open letter to America:

This republic needs a hero. Someone to galvanize the movement to stop illegal immigration. America's citizen foot soldiers are at the ready in every state, county and neighborhood waiting for their marching orders -- waiting for a someone to fill the leadership vacuum. A Gandhi, a Churchill or a Spartacus.

America is seething... http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/tribune-review/trib/mostread/s_426972.html

Also, the current problem of primarily Mexican illegal immigration after 9/11 is the responsbility of one man and one man only -- George W. Bush.

That was his pick-up truck at Home Depot hiring them?!
Silly me, I thought everyday Americans hired them as nannies, laborers, etc.

Maybe Bush should outlaw Supply and Demand and Cause and Effect.

Regarding your "other worthwhile read", the entire article begins with a false premise when it states: "The U.S.–Mexico border region is experiencing unparalleled trade and exchange as cross-border flows of goods and people continue to reach new highs."

The reality of cross border trade with almost all of our third world "trading" partners today is the unbalanced importation of both labor and product. To characterize it as "trade and exchange" is to ignore the very real - and very large - current accounts deficit that looms over our future.

A current account deficit is the same thing as saying a capital account surplus. It's the identity of the equation. Therefore, whenever our net exports are at a negative - like they have been - it means that foreigners are infusing the US with capital...check it out, it's perfectly matched. Would you rather us (collectively) be sending our capital overseas instead of the other way around?

Yes, however, that means that three out of every four feel that they are a net positive for the economy. These are not chump economist either. And, by the way, Stephen Moore and Julian Simon were not left-of-center shills...check out who they are...by Google them if you have to.

I would suggest repealing the 1965 Immigration Act that put us in this mess which was passionately supported by none other than Ted Kennedy and return to quotas, moratoriums, and screening of new immigrants.

Bump.
