Tony Snow is back and better than ever! Tony's guests and topics on today's Tony Snow Show include:
More Information Needed
Many who object to the port deal are concerned that they were not in the decision-making loop. Should more people be included in decisions of this nature? Maryland Governor Bob Ehrlich (R) weighs in.
The Facts Win
After sifting through mountains of paper and doing acres of research, the port story doesn't seem like a big issue. But Tony will address any concerns.
The Zen of Bode
Why does Bode Miller insist he doesn't care about winning medals at the Olympics? What is he even doing at the Olympics? Fox News Contributor Tiki Barber thinks he knows the answer.

"Woof" is used in broadcasting to say "stop," "that's enough" or to mark a specific point in time
-- which is what is done in this case. "Tony's show starts in 3 minutes: WOOF!" Means in 3 minutes from-- NOW!
Hi Fox! Making my usual late entrance and trying to catch up. I'm sure things have moved on since your post, but had to say you hit the nail on the head! The White House is losing the "communications war" and in the port instance like so many others, they let the situation get out of control before they get their message out! That seems to be the key to their problems! I have to admit when I first heard what was going on with the UAE Company Port story, I was horrified that we were turning over the keys to the country to the terrorists. After hearing rational observations from Tony and others, I begin to see that my initial reaction was possibly wrong. The problem is that in this instant gratification society, so many people never bother to listen to the other side, and go off half cocked with whatever they hear first from the HBM!
Oh, and Good Morning All!
Good question with complex answers. Firstly, is it in our national interest to control our own shipping? It has serious security implication because whomever we use will be responsible for moving men and machinery around the world should the need arise. Do we want Hong Kong or the UAE having a gun to our collective head when they refuse to ship. It should be remembered that after the 1973 War, it was the UAE that was the point nation on using oil as a political weapon. From it we got OPEC which still haunts us today. What's to stop them from doing the same thing with shipping if our relations sour which certainly isn't out of the question. I could write about several other issues, but this is the most important one to me. What ideas do you have?
AQ/Iraq have nothing to do with UAE, of course. I was using FrontPage's excellent research on that matter to show that I don't think they are leftist.
I'll have to disagree with you regarding Horowitz. As a former radical lefty, his turn around has been nothing short of miraculous and he's become a force for good for us.
He's been fabulous talking about and pushing the issue of equality in the Universities with regard to politics.
Caller talking about Tommy Franks book, which is wonderful. Mr. Peach really liked it too.
Please see post #302.
I learn a great deal from this site and Tony and Rush, and especially Tommy Franks. When we're not in the middle of flame wars, this place educates me and I'm glad you're learning more too. Life doesn't give any guarantees about anything. But I will say that it is my firm belief that if something really bad happens in the ports, it's not going to be DP World. It's going to be failures in the Department of Homeland Security which I can only hope Michael Chertoff is cleaning up.
I just happened to tune into Fox and saw it on H & C last night. I was mesmerized. Not for her brilliance but her lack thereof. It just reinforces my opinion that she is nowhere near the smartest woman in the world, let alone the smartest woman on the street she lives on in Chappaqua......
Would this be the same UAE that offered us 100 million dollars in Katrina aid? And the UAE does not fund homicide bombers. Their leaders are as much in danger from terrorists as ours are.
Inform yourself!! Come back to the light. All will be forgiven.
I trust him on the universities, but not on Foreign policy. On that I trust Tommy Franks.
Dubya needs to call the GOP dunderheads to the WH asap and give them a complete briefing, give them an opportunity to come out and say we need time to review the situation, and then let them make an honorable retreat from the brink in 30-60 days.
Speaking of Dancing With The Stars...not that I'd ever watch it. Stacy Keibler has my vote.
"It just reinforces my opinion that she is nowhere near the smartest woman in the world, let alone the smartest woman on the street she lives on in Chappaqua......"
Well said!!! ;>)
Sounds like a plan, hope the President has a bat!
The union aspect of this port issue bothers me a lot. I'm not a union fan (although Mr.FF is NABET) and I think a great percentage of this country's problems are directly pointed at one mega-union or another.
I do not like feeling ambivalent about an issue but I cannot resolve this one in my own mind so far.
Would it not be relevant that the UAE already services NAVY ships in the Persian Gulf?
Amen.
re: the enemies you can't see circa Oil for Food and the selling of weapons technologies.
