Former President Clinton toughed it out as long as he could today, speaking to a group of 1,000 business people in the morning and making it to a separate function with Australian Foreign Minister Alexander Downer before he had to beg off other engagements due to illness.
The Australian Associated Press reports that Clinton excused himself from a press conference, and headed off to his hotel room surrounded by secret service agents.
"I don't think he's been feeling very well for the last couple of days," Downer told reporters.
"It wasn't anything major, he's just been to India and then came here," said Max Markson, who arranged Clinton's trip Down Under. "He just felt a bit sick yesterday and spent most of the day in bed. He was just a bit tired."
"The international statesman was in Sydney for a whirlwind visit to address a major business summit and sign a $25 million agreement with the Australian government to tackle HIV/AIDS in the Asia-Pacific region," reports the AAP, after having been in India and Pakistan the week before.
Clinton has been on jetting around the world recently to promote the work of his William J. Clinton Foundation in fighting the spread of HIV/AIDS.
On Tuesday, before falling ill, Clinton seemed fine, and answered myriad questions from reporters and others at the Global Business Forum on everything from the Muhammad cartoon issue to the War on Terror.
He opined:
Is that a photo from this trip? He does look bad. Actually, it appears he's under arrest. The question would be: for WHICH crime?
licking his cigars?
The man is not healthy.
looks like aids catching up with him, not enough AZT in stock.
Anyone know how he travels? I would assume private jet?
The kind of trip described here on a public airline would kick about anyone's butt.
My father in law has had two bypasses. Following the second, he has never regained his vitality, is alwasy tired, weak and of pasty color. Looks to me like Bubba is suffering the same effects.
Oh that. I remember now. It disappeared because of lack of definitive proof.
Is he wearing an orange jumpsuit? Looks like it! LOL

Bubba should get advice from Monica before he goes down under, again.
He looks like FDR at Yalta, just months before he died.
Eli J. Segal, 63, Clinton Aide Dies
February 22, 2006
LITTLE ROCK -- Eli Segal, the campaign adviser who headed President Bill Clinton's national service program, died of cancer Monday in Boston.
Segal was chief of staff of Clinton's 1992 campaign and later became an assistant in the Clinton White House. He organized and headed Clinton's national service program, known as AmeriCorps.
Segal also chaired Gen. Wesley Clark's failed bid for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2004. Clark said Segal was diagnosed with cancer late last year. He added that it was only a few weeks ago that he knew how serious Segal's condition had become.

I understand the sentiment. I'd be lying if I said I never felt the same way. Still; I'd prefer he have an awaking and repent.
