Former President Clinton toughed it out as long as he could today, speaking to a group of 1,000 business people in the morning and making it to a separate function with Australian Foreign Minister Alexander Downer before he had to beg off other engagements due to illness.
The Australian Associated Press reports that Clinton excused himself from a press conference, and headed off to his hotel room surrounded by secret service agents.
"I don't think he's been feeling very well for the last couple of days," Downer told reporters.
"It wasn't anything major, he's just been to India and then came here," said Max Markson, who arranged Clinton's trip Down Under. "He just felt a bit sick yesterday and spent most of the day in bed. He was just a bit tired."
"The international statesman was in Sydney for a whirlwind visit to address a major business summit and sign a $25 million agreement with the Australian government to tackle HIV/AIDS in the Asia-Pacific region," reports the AAP, after having been in India and Pakistan the week before.
Clinton has been on jetting around the world recently to promote the work of his William J. Clinton Foundation in fighting the spread of HIV/AIDS.
On Tuesday, before falling ill, Clinton seemed fine, and answered myriad questions from reporters and others at the Global Business Forum on everything from the Muhammad cartoon issue to the War on Terror.
He opined:

Thats what I think. The guy has been traveling non-stop - he's going to have a heart attack if he doesn't watch out. I personally don't care for Clinton but I would hate to see him dead of a heart attack for being careless.
The problem is that Hillary really does need him. He's a likeable pol (or so I hear). She is not likeable and has a tin ear to political issues. His death could possibly help propel her to the WH, but she would have huge problems once she got there. She would have problems anyway, but would be without's Bill's ability to finesse them.
I missed the part where Hillary dropped everything and rushed down to nurse him back to health.
His chlamydia must be acting up.

I actually think he looks better since his surgery.
His face has lost that pathetic baby fat, and the deeper lines give him some undeserved gravitas.
(It's all superficial, of course, as proved by his continued immature, self-serving behavior.)
That said, I don't wish the man ill. I hope he lives many more years. If he were to die soon, there would be waaaaaaay too much hoopla at his funeral. We need more time for Clinton's lousy "legacy" to be fully and fairly assessed here on earth, before he meets his Maker.
Whatever Hillary is putting in his soup seems to be working.

A little GI irregularity need not imply poisoning or bad food. Just a few new bugs in your guts and you'll be making frequent visits to the WC. Dehydration and weakness often accompany this syndrome. Could even be a little bit dangerous for an older man with a bad ticker who, presumably, is on a bunch of meds.
Oh sure - she was there in a flash right after she did her port photo-op with Chucky.
