Does the United States need a military?
Editor -- As a born and raised San Franciscan, an anti-war protester since the '60s, a former vice chair of the state Democratic party and a person who goes on national TV on a regular basis in defense of our anti-war stances, I have to say that when I heard Supervisor Gerardo Sandoval say on the Fox News show "Hannity & Colmes" that the United States should not have a military, I thought that I didn't hear him correctly. After the fourth time he said it, I was stunned.
San Francisco is the city of peace and is the city of independent thinking, but I do not know one San Franciscan, other than Gerardo, who thinks that the United States of America should not have a military, not one. Even the anti-war Vatican has a military!
What was Gerardo thinking? To be clear, as a San Franciscan, I absolutely believe that the United States of America needs a military.
I can't even imagine what Bill O'Reilly will do with this!

San Francisco Let's think this through
Editor -- What, the United States without a military? Shocking, absolutely shocking. Of course if a child continually uses a toy to hurt other kids, it's a good idea to take the toy away from the child. If a driver can't seem to drive without running down pedestrians, we probably want to take away his driver's license. If a doctor purposely misleads patients and causes harm to them, by all means, take away the license to practice medicine.
But take away our military? Oh no, not that.

Ah, but read what you quoted. That person "does not know one San Franciscan, other than Gerardo, who thinks ...". There are many people that live in San Francsico, what is to say that the person who says this has a small group of San Francsico citizens that she hangs with? Yes, there are many people that feel that there shouldn't be a military in San Francisco, this person just doesn't know them.
Editor -- Supervisor Gerardo Sandoval was elected by a solid majority in his district and represents their, um, creative relationship with reality only too well.
Car 54 where are you?
As far as I'm concerned, China can have California.
Typical. Every Western convert to Buddhism I've met -- without a single exception -- is a self-absorbed, pacifist moonbat who regularly spews mindless, condescending cant like this*.
So the U.S. military needs to be "taken away," Cynthia? Who's going to "take away" a huge, well-armed military? An even bigger and better-armed military! And who, pray tell, might field such a force? Could it possibly be the nations who march under the Crescent and Star, and who would slap a burkha on your privileged hipster butt the moment they took power?
*If there are any Freeper Buddhists here, speak up now and be the proud exception to this rule. Western converts only -- cradle/Asian-ethnic faithful are a whole different kettle o' fish.
yea but we would lose FR, its in CA.
Well, it really would be safer in the middle of the country - more like minded people around here anyway! And it's a cheap and nice place to live! Perhaps a move could be worked out!!
Hmmm i do like asian women...
