The movie you are suggesting would not have to be a big budget production. Start with an internet version. Maybe it could be projected on a billboard (or the side of a mosque :).
I do believe, as a result of the 'cartoon' episode, the West has a much clearer view of what we are dealing with, it's become a little more difficult for the cowards to try and shout the rest of us down, because they, and not we, are terrified of islam. The islamophobia we hear about is after all, a disease of the 'intellectuals' - the academics, the entertainers, the court jesters of our society, the frightened ones are those that have never exerted themselves to earn their daily bread. Like someone else said here on this board, the hunters, when they went hunting, left the artists at home...
Which brings us to who makes the movies? Who are the story-tellers? Traditionally, they sat by the fireside and chewed the fat while they entertained the tribe with oral tales of great catastrophies or tribal history, greatly embellished no doubt. For anything else, they were probably quite useless, but no doubt they felt superior.
Now, who will make this film? In scope, the story of the arab's flight from the Peninsula at the time of the Exodus, around three thousand five hundred years ago, their 400 years of rule in Egypt, being driven out by Saul the first king of Israel, (the Middle Kingdom of Egypt was established with the help of the descendants of egypts former slaves) the eventual rise of mohammad, his psychotic episodes, the suggestion (from arabic sources) that he was sodomized as a child, his various suicide attempts, all are documented...is a massive story.
THE STORY OF THE ARABS deserves a production more on the scale of LAWRENCE OF ARABIA than a downplaying of historical events. Mohammad's part in the STORY OF THE ARABS is surely quite minor. He brings together the threads of arabic, nomadic, parasitic culture and by plagiarizing from the story-tellers on the steps of the temple in Medina, makes 'holy' that which arabs have done for millenia, sweep across nation states and territories, plunder and kill, take into slavery and destroy all they come across. What they cannot carry or drive away, they burn and turn to ashes.
Yes, indeed, who will produce this film? The subject matter is much greater in scope than the simple story of one opportunistic, conniving, cunning individual who established a cult following that still thrives into our own times...because he discovered that men will always sell their souls to the devil so to speak, if every evil one can imagine is permitted and rewarded as the Will of Allah.
But he could never have achieved all this if he had not been an arab, IMO. In the heart and soul of every arab there lived a mohammad long before mohammad was born.

The short version is I agree with both of you. I think the move of Mad Mo needs to be made, and perhaps a shortened version made available for downloading... a kind of digital samizdat.
The outcry surrounding this will guarantee publicity, and interest.
The follow up associated movies, articles etc can address other aspects of the cult and its historical background. Keep kicking at it and exposing it.
Who will produce it? I suggest setting up a front company... call on ex-muslim talent, the "Ibn Warraqs", "Ali Sinas", Ayan Hirsi Alis, to see if they have any interest.... I understand the first two are pseudonyms... if we cant get them, other "ex-muslim pseudonyms" may be the way.. ;o)
