I think that is why God allowed it. I know many are quite miffed at him for "sleeping" on that day, but bigger things are definitely afoot in the heavenly realm (i.e. "as high as the heavens are above the earth, so are my ways above your ways").

Use a little antibiotic against an infection and if it doesn't kill it, the infection will come back with a vengeance and be much harder to kill....Gulf War I taught us that when you strike at the king you must kill him or you will have to fight the same battle later....
Lots of good debates here, many different opinions, will we learn from history or repeat it? Which history?

Ah, that grind. I can hear it in my right knee. Age bites!
We are a bit off topic, but this topic has wound down. It's no longer really active.

This thread is one of the low points in FR history for me. Change one word and it reads like Mein Kampf.

but this topic has wound down. It's no longer really active.Unlike the threat of radical Islam, which thrives amid the willful ignorance and misspent sympathy of those in the west who refuse to see that threat for what it is.
Terrorism never sleeps.

Aside from the Constitutional problem, this is also a very very very very very very
bad idea.
The instant you allow a religion to be proscribed based on the fact it is a "terrorist organization", or that it "advocates violence" or some other such thing, you created your own petard. The government that today is perfectly well intentioned and could be trusted to use such legal concepts for good might tomorrow fall into the hands of those who would use the exact same tools to -- for example-- jail all those who speak against abortion, since they are identifying themselves as members of a "terrorist organization."
Idiots. To forget that the limitations on governemental power in our Constitution were not just written out of moral and legal concerns, but out of PRAGMATIC concerns. You hand somebody a gun once, and then argue all you want how and when he should use it against you, and he listens to you if he wants -- or maybe he just shoots you mid-sentence.

There were only a few people that sounded like that here. And many that disagreed. Does that count for something?

or maybe he just shoots you mid-sentence. How about ramming airliners filled with fuel into skyscrapers to the chants of "Allahu Akhbar"?
How well I remember the televised images of joyous celebration throughout the Islamic world.

Oh, I'm almost tempted to abandon my current tagline and adopt that fine quotation instead.

We're not out to get Islam; we're out to get people who torch buildings, commit terrorist acts, and kill people, for whatever reason. Wonderful sentiments, but...
Islam is the reason
for the treason!

"This thread is one of the low points in FR history for me. Change one word and it reads like Mein Kampf." The thread reminds me Chamberlain in Munich, circa 1938.
I view the central issue of this thread to be whether Islam deserves the constitutional protections afforded a religion.
Constitutional rights are not, of course, absolute. They must be balanced against other facts, such as the potential for harm.
It sure looks like a cult to me.

The KKK was a violent religious organization which was banned, first amendment or no.
The KKK has not been banned. In fact, the KKK's right to march has been upheld by the Supreme Court. So those idiots get to stand on the steps of our city halls and spew their drek once a year.
Won't some of you closet liberals please tell me what is the difference between Islam (both the terrorists and those who support them, tacitly or otherwise) and the KKK? The comnplicit who remain silent are just as guilty as the perpetrators.
So I'm a liberal now? Weak. Weak argument.
I'm not a shortsighted fool who wants to give government the power to ban a particular religion. Because I can invision a Hillary administration that would try to go after some Christians using the precedent. Think a little before you spout these poorly thought out ideas.
The islamoterrorists advocate and practice the slaughter of "infidels". The KKK advocated and practiced the slaughter of African-Americans. The difference please?
Not all Islam is hate. A significant amount of its practitioners are extremists. But we can't empower government to ban religions. If they want to do that, they need to change the first Amendment to prohibit "hate speech."

May I reiterate my recommendation that all read John Hagee's book, "JERUSALEM COUNTDOWN", which is available for less than $9.00 at your nearest Costco? To learn what is really going on is our sovereign duty to our God, our country and our families.
