Hearst columnist Lee Mortimer was a dick, the "Gregory" of his day, always hounding and taunting Sinatra. Thelast straw was when he called Frank a "Daigo". The best story I heard about Sinatra, was after Lee Mortimer death, Sinatra went to his grave to pay his respects, and pissed on it!
As far as Tommy Dorsey, he made Frank sign a lifetime contract with him that he got 50% of EVERYTHING Sinatra would make for life, no matter if he sang with him or not! Frank could have left anytime and paided the bum from his records and movies.Frank must have been desparate to sign a contract in the first place, but if I had mob connections, I would have had Tommys fingers snapped as well to get out of it!
Yes, that was Sinatra's version of the story. Nobody else there on his side of the altercation was willing to talk about it in court, so who knows.
