Welcome to Free Republic, BTW.
Against "tinfoil" we may oppose "group think" - "Nobody else is worried, so why should I be worried". More generally, it's amazing to me how fast things change, and how little people seem to notice. An entire system of business sociology has disappeared in the last twenty years. This is commented upon, of course, but the changes are much more radical than they are generally recognized to be, IMHO, and the thing is that we are just drifting willy-nilly. Nobody has any idea of what's really going on, it seems. Buchanan's ideal of a WWII style strong America is no doubt unrealistic, but I think it's foolish to disregard the causes of his alarm and discomfort.
