If you think restricting free thought is a good thing, I pity you. You will have no problem embracing Islam, it dictates thought as well.

Where have you been throughout this debate? This issue has nothing to do with "free thought," and if you had been paying attention, you'd know that. Now go back back and do your homework before spouting off like an ignorant fool.

Rudder,

Exactly, It has everything to do with FORCE.It is the antithesis of "freedom of thought".

Forcing citizens to pay for a government school worldview that can never be content or consequence neutral and profoundly shapes the political, cultural, and moral/ethics/values ( ie religion) of the next generation of voters.

Government schools are a price-fixed monopoly that creates a hostile business environment for the creation of private alternatives. When private schools are scarce and exclusive, the government then threatens parents with police, court, and foster care action if they don't send their child to their government assigned indoctrination camp. Geeze! Only the government could devise something so fiendishly evil.

Evolution is merely one of HUNDREDS of topics than can never be politically, culturally, or religiously neutral in content or consequences.
