The source speaks for itself.
There have been individuals with familiarization with the Middle East who have been posting on FR and saying since early 2002 that Osama Bin Laden was dead. The Ph.D. is a nut-ball, but if you forget the propaganda and read the guts of the article you will find much that is indisputable. Expecially telling was the CIA's authenticity of a tape the Swiss experts proved was bogus.
I have been asking for years why the CIA maintains OBL is alive. (And by the way, where are his sons, and his Sudanese wife -- a relative of Sudan's Hasan al-Turabi who has not heard from her since 2002?) What do they gain by it? In a convoluted way, I think that it makes the administration look bad and gives fodder to the Democrats. Secondarily, perhaps it helps in the CIA's annual funding drives. Finally, it may be that there are elements in the CIA who are scared witless to tell their bosses they think OBL is dead, and has been for a long time. I know it seems goofy, but as one who has followed the life and times of OBL for more than ten years before his death in 2002, I just can't explain all the anomalies in the intelligence community. Curt Weldon are you out there?
