I think Russia wanted to do the enriching strictly for the cash. If Iran does it themselves, Russia loses out on $$$ and has to worry about Iran getting the bomb. Russia will stand against Iran on this ultimately.
This is the same Russia that is celebrating Hamas' vistory because it was a defeat for U.S. policy in the region.
Russia sees any defeat of U.S. as a victory.
