It seems that the U.S.A. has a history of waiting until the horse is gone before securing the proverbial barn door. In some cases it´s simply expensive or inconvenient, but in some cases it is downright dangerous.
Although few on the left are willing to admit, it´s pretty well known that Bill Clinton had at least three chances to take bin Ladin into custody and refused. We all know that we brought Saddam to his knees during the first Gulf War and sailed away without finishing the job, necessitating the second Gulf War.
We all know that our Congress usually takes so long in passing meaningful legislation that by the time it becomes law it is, many times, toothless and obsolete.
But one of the most dangerous things happening in our nation right now is the situation at our southern borders. Everyday illegals cross the international border of Mexico with impunity. Our cities are inundated with unpapered, non-English speaking aliens.
I have no problem with honest people coming to this country seeking a better life for them and their families, but when they come in illegally I am dead set against it. We don´t even know they´re here and we have no way of knowing what kind of people they are.
Are they Islamic sympathizers bent on destroying us and our way of life? Are they violent gang members who hire out to do murder and mayhem? Are they drug traffickers, fugitives from the law, disease carriers or political malcontents?
The fact is that when they simply walk across our borders we have no way of knowing who or what they are. Is this not insanity?
It has been proven that most politicians have not got the guts to deal with the situation. It´s not a Democratic or Republican thing, nor a left or right thing, it´s simply a political hot potato that will continue to grow bigger and hotter until it eventually explodes in one way or another.
These illegals are straining the budgets of every border state and now some politicians want to give them what´s tantamount to having undocumented American citizenship, allowing them to participate in social programs and entitlements.
There is no way that this situation is ever going to resolve itself. This is a festering sore that becomes bigger and more infected every passing day and, at sometime in the future, will manifest itself in some catastrophic result in this nation. Whether it comes in the form of a nuclear attack or some contagious, out-of-control disease, when it hits I hope that people in this nation will remember how our state and federal politicians left us vulnerable and defenseless, all in the cause of trying to buy themselves a few more votes.
In my book they´re all culpable - the president, Congress, Senate, governors and legislatures. It´s way past time to shut the barn door.
Charlie Daniels is a successful country music artist and enjoys writing a weekly column.
Illegals are coming in from everywhere and they should all be deported.
Local Numbers to Report Employers of illegal labor or illegal aliens
These are the numbers to call to report employers you suspect are hiring illegal immigrants. You may also report immigrants themselves if you believe they are in the country illegally, whether they are working or not.
You should have the address of each suspected violator at a minimum, and as much additional information as you can obtain. The more information you provide the INS the more likely it is they will take action and the faster it will be taken.

From there anybody on FR can dissect the bill for themselves, without the spin from, IMO, the pro-infanticide group FAIR, which seems to have a small but vocal following on FR.
I met and interviewed Charlie Danielsway back in the early '80s, and we talked extnesively then about his song "Still In Saigon." He was a true patriot when it wasn't cool or fashionable and he's never faltered.
I am not a country music fan (love bluegrass) but this man can make a fiddle smoke.
Anyway, forget his musical talents, he's a bright man and a dedicated patriot.
I am going to try to get in touch with his publicist and ask him to run for Sen. Bill Frist's seat.
Ya might want to read what your vaunted Sen. Cornyn says about the realities of Republican rule in the Senate...
"Cornyn said he doesn't see a lot of support in the Senate for a provision denying children of illegal immigrants born in the United States citizenship or for building a fence on the southern border."
So what Kyl/Cornyn does is legalize Illegals! That's ALL it does! If we can't get them to leave the Country now, WTF makes you think they'll leave because of Kyl/Cornyn? THIS is the Law they'll FINALLY obey?
Uh psst, itzy, Sen. Cornyn lives in reality, unlike you, IMO, posting from the pro-infanticde DC lobbying organization called FAIR.
But what the hey you gotta keep the animus flowing after all that animus is what keeps your livlihood going, ala jesse jackson, IMO.
I'm no celeb but it never bothered me, I just consider the source.
Charlie is an older, wiser, southern White boy who sings Country tunes. So naturally, he is not only a racist Nazi, he's likely a redneck, church burning, card carrying KKK member as well, at least in the minds of the liberal OBL.
In these few simple paragraphs he has nailed it in a beautifully irrefutable way.
Good conservative proposal, eh?
I guess it depends upon the meaning of the word, "good".
The problem with the Kyl/Cornyn proposal is that it contains the very same amnesty provisions that Bush is proposing.
How do I know it's amnesty?
Because there aren't any methods included or identified in either Bush's or Kyl/Cornyn's proposals to deport the so-called 'guest worker' once their 'guest worker' visas expire.
Below is the text of the Temporary Worker program contained in the Kyl/Cornyn proposal. In it's provisions it says that the guest worker must return home after their visas expire.
What methods will be used or actions taken to ensure the worker goes home when his visa expires?
What will be done if the worker refuses to go home?
The proposal also contains provisions that will allow the worker's family members to visit for up to 30 days per year.
What if they don't want to go home? What will be done to ensure they go home at the end of the 30 day period?
What if they don't go? Then what?
Temporary Worker Program
- Establishes new visa category that allows aliens to enter the U.S. to work temporarily when there are no available U.S. workers
- Limits the period of visa to two years, after which the alien must return home for one year. Alien may participate up to three times (for a total of 6 years of employment in the U.S.)
- Requires completion of background checks, health screening and issuance of biometric documentation to participating aliens
- Establishes a Temporary Worker Task Force to prepare a report on the effect of the temporary worker program on wages and employment of U.S. workers, which would then form basis of cap
- Family members may visit principal worker in the U.S. for no longer than 30 days within a given year
Ah Dane...whatever would the Pro-Illegal Infiltrators do without your sock-monkey like devotion...your straw-man arguments...and your love of the Je$$e Jacka$$ Race-Card?
You are a cheap fabric salesman..."Never mind the quality, Feel the width!"
So, everyone...Dane believes reality is to BOHICA for up to 30 MILLION Illegal Infiltrators here in America...that we all shoulds just keep paying for THEIR welfare, well-being, while things like this keep happening...
The High Cost of Cheap Labor Illegal Immigration and the Federal Budget
" Based on Census Bureau data, this study finds that, when all taxes paid (direct and indirect) and all costs are considered, illegal households created a net fiscal deficit at the federal level of more than $10 billion in 2002. We also estimate that, if there was an amnesty for illegal aliens, the net fiscal deficit would grow to nearly $29 billion."
Or, maybe this littel gem...
Sociologist Lisa Catanzarite looked at many different occupations across 38 major metropolitan areas. She found that the higher the percentage of "recent immigrant Latino men" [RILM] in each local job, the lower the wages paid to citizens and established immigrants.
She writes: "The pay penalty in occupation-MAs [Metropolitan Areas] with 25% RILM [recent immigrant Latino men] amounts to $2,369 per year; at 15% RILM, the penalty is $1,421, and at 5% RILM, $474. These are substantial wage discounts, given that annual earnings average $21,590. In other words, in occupations with 25% RILM, workers earn only 89% as much as workers in comparable fields without RILM."
In other words: all else being equal, if the makeup of your occupation's local labor pool changes from 0% new immigrant to 25%, your income shrinks 11%. (source...http://www.ncpa.org/iss/imm/2003/pd081903c.html and http://www.chicano.ucla.edu/)
Gee, Dane...who lives in "reality"...and who is sitting at the feet of the "Massah", licking their hands so willingly? Wear your chains lightly...Real America recognizes a quisling when we see one!

The only thing the Kyl/Cornyn bill will do is add more illegal aliens to our rolls.
Their proposal contains the very same guest worker non-amnesty amnesty that Bush is proposing.
What happens when their visas expire? How will we make sure they go home as they've agreed?
When they don't go home, what then?
You don't actually expect a coherent reply to that do you?
Nope.
Agreed, I hope Daniels runs for political office, I've no doubt he'd win big-time.
You are correct, IIRC, one of Charlie Daniels first hits(around 1972, I believe) was called "Uneasy Rider" and was about him driving to LA(Los Angeles) and getting a flat tire somewhere in Mississippi and he goes into the bar to call a tow truck and then he meets up with some hollywood stereotype rednecks with green teeth and then the song goes on and it ends that he was driving to LA via Omaha(Nebraska).
Below is good old boys Charlie Daniels lyrics from that hit song.
I was takin a trip out to L.A. Toolin along in my cheverolet Tokin on a number and diggin on the radio
Just as I crossed the Mississippi line I heard that highway start to whine And I knew that left rear tire was about to blow
Well the spare was flat and I got uptight Cause there wasn't a filling station in sight So I just limped on down the shoulder on the rim
I went as far as I could and when I stopped the car It was right in front of this little bar Kind of a red-neck lookin joint called the Dew Drop Inn
I stuffed my hair up under my hat And told the bartender that I had a flat And ywould he be kind enough to give me change for a one
There was one thing I was sure proud to see There wasn't a soul in the place except for him and me He just looked disgusted and pointed toward the telephone
I called up the station down the road a ways He said he wasn't very busy today And he could have somone out there in just about 10 minutes or so
He said," Now, you just stay right where yer at!" And I didn't bother to tell the darn fool That I sure as hell didn't have anyplace else to go
So I ordered up a beer and sat down at the bar When some guy walked in and said, "Who owns this car With the peace sign, the mag wheels and the four on the floor?"
He looked at me and I damn near died And I decided that I'd just wait outside So I laid a dollar on the bar and headed for the door
Just when I wthought I'd get outta there with my skin These 3 big dudes come strollin in With one old drunk chick and some fella with green teeth
Now the last thing I wanted was to get into a fight In Jackson Mississippi on a Saturday night Especially when there was three of them and only one of me
I was almost to the door when the biggest one Said, "You tip your hat to this lady, son!" And when I did, all that hair fell out from underneath
They all started laughin and I felt kinda sick And I knew I better think of something pretty quick So I just reached out and kicked old green teeth right in the knee
Now he let out a yell that'd curl yer hair But before he could move I grabbed me a chair And said "Now watch him Folks cause he's a fairly dangerous man!"
"You may not know it but this man is a spy. He's a undercover agent for the FBI And he's been sent down here to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan!"
He was still bent over holdin on to his knee But everybody else was looking and listening to me And I laid it on thicker hand heavier as I went
"He's a friend of them long haired, hippy-type, pinko fags! I betchya he's even got a commie flag tacked up on the wall inside of his garage."
"He's a snake in the grass, I tell ya guys. He may look dumb but that's just a disguise, He's a mastermind in the ways of espionage"
"Would you believe this man has gone as far As tearing Wallace stickers off the bumpers of cars. And he voted for George McGovern for President."
They started lookin real suspicious at him He jumped up and said "Now just wait a minute Jim! You know he's lying I been living here all of my life!"
"I'm a faithful follower of Brother John Birch And I belong to the Antioch Baptist Church. And I aint even got a garage, you can call home and ask my wife!"
Then he started saying somethin bout the way I was dressed But I didn't wait around to hear the rest I was too busy moving and hoping I didn't run outta luck
When I hit the door I was making tracks And they were just taking my car down off the jacks So I threw the man a twenty and jumped in and fired that mother up
Mario Andretti wouldda sure been proud Of the way I was movin when I passed that crowd Coming out the door and headed toward me at a trott
Now I guess I should of gone ahead and run But somehow I just couldn't resist the fun Of chasing them all just once around the parking lot
I had them all out there steppin and fetchin Like their heads was on fire and their asses was catchin then I figgered I had better go ahead and split before the cops got there
When I hit the road I was really wheelin Had gravel flyin and rubber squeelin And I didn't slow down till I was almost to Arkansas
I think I'm gonna reroute my trip I wonder if anybody'd think I'd flipped If I went to L.A., via Omaha
Kinda of interesting that Charlie Daniels got his career stareted by trashing the South with hollyweird steroetypes.
You might have a problem with that one, not too many people, myself included are in favor of giving any type of citizenship to illegals. It's what was tried in 1986 and did little to stop the flood.
And even this fails to consider the effect these illegals and their families will have on our Social Security system.
As you're no doubt aware, on June 29, 2004, Bush's appointed Social Security Administrator sign a Social Security Totalization Agreement with Mexico. Among it's provisions, it allows:
The Mexican illegal alien to apply for, and receive benefits after working (illegally) for 6 quarters (18 months). US citizens (read: you and I) have work 40 quarters (10 years) before we're eligible to apply.
The Mexican illegal alien can apply for, and receive benefits for his Mexican national wife and Mexican national children, even if they've never stepped foot in the USA.
When the GAO reviewed the methods the SSA used to evalute the suitibility of the Mexican SS system, they said this:
SSA has no written policies or procedures it follows when entering into totalization agreements, and the actions it took to assess the integrity and compatibility of Mexicos social security system were limited and neither transparent nor well-documented. SSA followed the same procedures for the proposed Mexican agreement that it used in all prior agreements. SSA officials told GAO that they briefly toured Mexican facilities, observed how its automated systems functioned, and identified the type of data maintained on Mexican workers. However, SSA provided no information showing that it assessed the reliability of Mexican earnings data and the internal controls used to ensure the integrity of information that SSA will rely on to pay social security benefits.
So, the SSA went down to Mexico, looked around, then came back, gave us a "thumb's up" and said, "Looks good to us!"
The GAO went on to say this about the Totalization Agreement:
The cost of such an agreement is highly uncertain. In March 2003, the Office of the Chief Actuary estimated that the cost of the Mexican agreement would be $78 million in the first year and would grow to $650 million (in constant 2002 dollars) in 2050. The actuarial cost estimate assumes the initial number of newly eligible Mexican beneficiaries is equivalent to the 50,000 beneficiaries living in Mexico today and would grow sixfold over time. However, this proxy figure does not directly consider the estimated millions of current and former unauthorized workers and family members from Mexico and appears small in comparison with those estimates. The estimate also inherently assumes that the behavior of Mexican citizens would not change and does not recognize that an agreement would create an additional incentive for unauthorized workers to enter the United States to work and maintain documentation to claim their earnings under a false identity. Although the actuarial estimate indicates that the agreement would not generate a measurable long-term impact on the actuarial balance of the trust funds, a subsequent sensitivity analysis performed at GAOs request shows that a measurable impact would occur with an increase of more than 25 percent in the estimate of initial, new beneficiaries. For prior agreements, error rates associated with estimating the expected number of new beneficiaries have frequently exceeded 25 percent, even in cases where uncertainties about the number of unauthorized workers were less prevalent. Because of the significant number of unauthorized Mexican workers in the United States, the estimated cost of the proposed totalization agreement is even more uncertain than in prior agreements.
