Because it makes you violent, insane, lazy, fat, gives you cancer, makes you ill, causes blackouts, causes euphoria, can't drive, can't think, can't finish anything, listen to free-form music, you listen to jazz, you wear tie-dyes, causes mental illness, causes schizophrenia, makes you a sexual predator
hmmm...what else
oh, to make sure if its not obvious ( /s)

You didn't spy that it was a British paper, did you?

Oh sure, and another one last week was from a Brit paper also.
I'm not implying the feds are writing the stories.

Please feel free to contact the psych ward at Shawnee-Mission Medical Center in Merriam, Kansas and ask them if smoking pot is dangerous.I think many people are in denial over the dangers due to their attachment to the pleasure they get from it.
Do most pot smokers become psychotic or violent? Of course not. Is alcohol dangerous? Yes, it is. Should marijuana be illegal? I don't know, probably not. None of this changes the fact that pot use is dangerous to one's mental and physical health.
To: GarySpFc
Don't get me wrong, I think that that in general pot is pretty harmless compared with the other ways of getting off your face out there.
Some people here though seem to be in denial about the link to psychotic illness. The scale of the problem is debatable but that it is a real problem is not.
To: wideawake
According to the DSM-IV, the ingestion of large amounts of delta-9-THC can indeed produce violent psychosis. No clear causal relation between cannabis and psychosis have been found. Possible casual relations have been found though, as in one root condition may result in both a predisposition to cannabis use and psychosis.

" ... there's a reason it's illegal."
And that reason would be?

Actually, Dupont had created synthetic fibers that would replace hemp, (which had been used for dozens of centuries) to produce rope and many other fiber based products. Dupont lobbied heavily for the abolition of marijuana and jumped on the prohibitionists bandwagon.
To: Vaquero
My good Freeper friend, lighten up on this. I'm 60 years old and have not smoked marijuana since 1973. I'm just funnin' ya.

And that reason would be? Mainly money, racism and lying to Congress.
To: MineralMan
thats about the time I stopped. I have seen the damage done, when I worked in the state hospital system back then.
