Posted on 02/06/2006 6:08:53 AM PST by ken5050
Good Monday morning, once again, fellow political jinkies. The NFL season may be over, but the political season inside the Beltway is 24/7/365. So join us, if you can, as those wacky Dems on the Senate Judiciary committee reprise their pitiful efforts to once again smear President Bush and score political points..

Graham: I want to create law that will help people fight the war.
Riiiight. Congress has been diminishing that capability for years.

No, no, you guys need to relax.
Graham is setting up a great argument here for our side. He is establishing the fact that Congress has a remedy at their disposal, if they don't like the NSA program.
THEY CAN DEFUND IT.
Of course, the Dems would get SLAUGHTERED if they try it.
Graham makes the case that it is just a difference of opinion, not illegalities.

Graham- If you think this is illegal, defund it, stop the program and vote your convictions.I agree. Bring it to a floor vote like that idiotic Murtha bill voted on in the House last November, which Murtha voted against.

Gonzales: The fact that the president has inherent authority doesn't mean Congress doesn't have any authority in a particular area.
Regarding competing congressional authority...
Graham interrupts: That's where you are with me right now.
