LIVE THREAD: SJC hearing on the NSA surveilance program - C-span 1; 9:30 am EST

Posted on 02/06/2006 6:08:53 AM PST by ken5050

Good Monday morning, once again, fellow political jinkies. The NFL season may be over, but the political season inside the Beltway is 24/7/365. So join us, if you can, as those wacky Dems on the Senate Judiciary committee reprise their pitiful efforts to once again smear President Bush and score political points..

There's not one Pubbie on that committee who'd like to know what Bubba did, to whom, and why?

Unfortunately not. This is all about finding some evidence to impeach Bush.

Those are very good questions considering Toon is refusing to give a straight answer on the subject. So much for Congressional oversight, eh?

Anyone who thinks Toon will get badgered with tough questions with very little room from which to stray off point from, from this collective group of duly elected mealy-mouthed goobers hellbent on impeaching President Bush is fooling themselves. This hearing has NOTHING to do with National Security.

I bet this commercial has Hillary written all over it. She has been screaming for a special prosecutor for months now. She will not rest until a Republican President has been impeached.

So, are these hearings about what the President did, or what DiFi thinks he may someday do? What an ignorant fool she is.

Is this an impeachment hearing just under another title?

I may have garbled that up....there is a Blog called Pajama Media.....

Is the president above the law?

At NRO's Corner, the invaluable Andrew McCarthy suggests that the answer to the question, in the eyes of some prominent liberals such as then-assistant attorney general and former acting Solicitor General Walter Dellinger, is: It depends on who the president is. McCarthy has more here and here.

McCarthy's commentary reflects tremendous work done by Bryan Cunningham to demonstrate the president's authority to authorize the NSA terrorist surveillance. Bryan Cunninhgam's lengthy but important letter is accessible in PDF in the first of McCarthy's three linked Corner posts (i.e., this one). McCarthy finds noteworthy the reversal executed by former Clinton officials (Walter Dellinger in particular) in attacking Bush while vigorously defending presidential power to ignore statutes while Clinton was in office.

"Question to Durbin from PowerLine

If you disagree with the President why don't you go on the Senate Floor and do away with it...."

Exactly my thought this morning as I was folding laundry; why not have our so called majority offer an amendment which deprives the president of the ability to conduct electronic surveillance's on the enemy during time of war.
Let DemLosers vote aye or nay.

Then lets get on with the pressing issues of the day and get their ugly mugs off the air.

Is this an impeachment hearing just under another title?

Nothing more, nothing less. Beyond that, all we know is the Democrats are still stuck on stupid.
