I normally don't have much good to say about the PeTA types. But if one of them wanted to get all medieval on these idiots, I would not object.

It enrages me to think this is going on - but this perversion is just an indicator of demand for the product. The fault lies with the junkies and addicts in NYC, the northeast, and to a lesser degree, elsewhere in the US. I recall reading that there are several hundred thousand IV drug users in the NYC market. Someone needs to make it clear that their discretionary habit is causing massive dislocations in South America, and now is giving drug producers and incentive to use puppies. I say Jihad on heroin smugglers/producers/distributors!

"The organization's outrageous and heinous smuggling method of implanting heroin inside puppies is a true indication of the extent that drug dealers go to make their profit," Gilbride said. Yes! That did it for me. I thought they weren't that bad, even though they routinely murder PEOPLE.
Reminds me of that true story where a hitman listened while the prosecutor told the court that he murdered 3 people and hit a dog. When asked what he had to say in his defense, his reply was "I didn't hit no dog".
To: Wally_Kalbacken
Trying to impress upon a heroin user the societal cost of their drug usage is a fool's errand. They typically are not concerned about such things.

Darn, you beat me to it.
Yeah, offing people's no big deal, but when they start kicking puppies, that's when you know they're bad guys!

RMN ^ NEW YORK Colombian drug dealers turned puppies into couriers by surgically implanting them with packets of heroin, federal authorities said today. Investigators believe the ring used the dogs, as well as human drug swallowers, to conceal millions of dollars in liquid heroin on commercial flights into New York City for distribution on the East Coast. Ten puppies, including Labrador retrievers, were rescued during a 2004 raid on a farm in Colombia, the Drug Enforcement Administration said, while announcing more than 30 arrests. A veterinarian had stitched a total of 3 kilograms of heroin into the bellies of six pups.... |

How about cut the smack with a drug that will make people very sick but does not do any real damage and then release it on to the street. What do you think will happen?

I think it's because when people get killed in the drug trade, most times they're involved and culpable for their own choices to be in harm's way. A puppy is innocent and harmless, unable to defend itself.

To: kingattax
Absolutely disgusting. I vote that we surgically implant about 100 pounds each of ecstasy in each Columbian and ship his butt back home by oxcart. Those that get there before the bag breaks can have it removed. Those that don't . . . . . . . well, no big loss.

How about cut the smack with a drug that will make people very sick but does not do any real damage and then release it on to the street. What if your next hit might be your last? I thought of this back in the eighties when a lethal batch of heroin effectively eliminated demand in NYC for a couple of weeks. The dealers were actually complaining publically that they were getting squeezed. It was bizarre.
Of course, it's an unworkable idea. It would be a litigation nightmare at the very least, and a full blown civic disaster at the worst.
But then again, who says the government has to be involved?
