A San Bernardino County sheriff's deputy shot an Air Force security officer late Sunday night after the airman told the deputy that he was in the military and "on your side." A videotape of the incident, which was shot on a residential Chino street about 10:30 p.m., was of poor quality, showing only a silhouette of the deputy and the face of the man who was shot illuminated by the deputy's flashlight.
But the tape appears to show the deputy opening fire as the man was trying to comply with the officer's apparent order to stand up.
Senior Airman Elio Carrion, 21, had been riding as a passenger in a Corvette that was involved in a brief, high-speed chase with the deputy that reached speeds of 100 mph before the Corvette crashed into a fence, authorities said.
The videotape, shot by Chino resident Jose Luis Valdes, shows Carrion sprawled on the ground and repeatedly telling the deputy, "I'm on your side."
The deputy then seems to shout, "Get up!" after which Carrion appears to lean forward. "I'm going to get up, all right?" he says.
The deputy then fires his gun three or four times from about five feet away. "Shut up, you don't get up !" he shouts.

What if the deputy said "Shet up" and the man thought he said "Get up???
Sounds like a possibility.
"Hispanics are less violent, as a group, than blacks and whites."
You obviously don't live in a city with illegal alien and/or gang member hispanics. The whites and asians look like choir boys and boy scouts in comparison.
Yeah, I saw it on Fox News later on. Crazy stuff.
Because a lot of them are smarter than that. That's not an insult against all black people, just certain ones in certain places.
Watch the video and listen to the exchange. The officer clearly says "Get up" twice and without excessive excitement in his voice. The shooting victim then clearly moves to get up and is shot.
I respect cops and wave to them whenever I see them, but this guy should be strung up.
That cop probably didn't ever realize he was being filmed. This cop is actually going to make the job tougher for GOOD cops.
The video is very bad indeed. That was attempted murder. The cop needs a very long time in prison. I'm sure his fellow prisoners will treat a scumbag ex-cop with respect.
Now I see black-fatigued combat-booted behemoths with
black death's skull baseball caps and body armor.
Now I see steroid pumped and speedball amped thugs proud
of the way their raw power can bend citizens to their will.
That's not a pleasant image.
